When someone you love is autistic, has ADHD, or processes the world differently, it can bring both questions and relief. Many children and adults are deeply capable, creative, insightful, and caring, while also struggling with anxiety, relationships, sensory overwhelm, burnout, or feeling misunderstood.
Research suggests many autistic individuals also experience co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, ADHD, depression, OCD, learning differences, or trauma-related stress. This means support often works best when we look at the whole person rather than a single label.
At Dance of Change, we take a respectful, strengths-based approach. We do not view autism as something to fix. We help children, teens, adults, and families better understand needs, reduce stress, improve connection, and build lives that work for who they truly are.
Some adults still identify with older terms such as Asperger’s. Some families may remember earlier diagnoses such as PDD-NOS. While diagnostic language has changed, many of these presentations are now understood within the Autism Spectrum. Our focus is less on labels and more on understanding strengths, challenges, and creating the right support. Getting the right support makes all the difference for you and/or your loved one.
Support for Children & Families
If your child is showing signs of autism, ADHD, sensory sensitivity, emotional intensity, or social struggles, early support can make a meaningful difference.
We help families understand behavior through an attachment and nervous-system lens, not simply as “bad behavior” or defiance, but often as communication, stress, overwhelm, or unmet needs.
Therapy may help your child with:
- Emotional regulation
- Anxiety and worry
- Social confidence
- Family conflict
- Sensory overwhelm
- Transitions and routines
- Self-esteem
- Parent-child connection
Support for Adults
Many adults were undiagnosed, unseen or misunderstood in childhood. Likely, you learned to mask your struggles.
You may appear successful or high-functioning while privately dealing with anxiety, burnout, relationship stress, procrastination, overwhelm, loneliness, or feeling different your whole life.
Therapy can help with:
- Self-understanding
- Emotional regulation
- Executive functioning support
- Relationship communication
- Shame reduction
- Burnout recovery
- Identity clarity
- Greater confidence and connection
Support for Couples & Relationships
Neurodivergence can impact communication, household responsibilities, emotional connection, intimacy, and conflict patterns. Often both partners care deeply, but feel stuck in repeated misunderstandings.
We help couples slow down reactive cycles, improve understanding, and build practical systems that support connection.
This may include support around:
- ADHD and marriage stress
- Feeling unseen or unsupported
- Different communication styles
- Emotional reactivity
- Task imbalance
- Intimacy challenges
- Repair after repeated conflict
If You Wonder Whether You’re Neurodivergent
Sometimes people seek therapy before seeking testing. Or perhaps you have gotten tested already but the results did not match your experience of yourself. If you wonder or suspect you are neurodivergent, you are probably right. Diagnostic labels can be helpful. And also you do not need a label to benefit from support. Understanding your patterns, sensitivities, strengths, and stress responses can be both deeply relieving and practical.
Whether or not you pursue assessment, therapy can help you function with more ease, self-compassion and less burnout in your life.
Our Approach
At Dance of Change, we integrate attachment-based therapy, somatic awareness, relationship insight, and practical support.
Rather than trying to force people into a narrow definition of “normal,” we help individuals and families create lives that honor who they are while strengthening the skills and support they need.
