As an enlightened man who is not afraid to venture outside the norm, and even outside your own comfort zone at times, you know how to ask for help when you need it. Perhaps this is one of those times. Maybe you’ve practiced things like mediation, yoga or tai chi and derived some benefit, but still find yourself ending up in the same old pattern.
Perhaps you’ve fantasized about making a bold move, but it all feels too risky. Maybe a major change has occurred in your life already that has brought you too a tipping point.
The Tipping Point
Often a crisis is the cause. The loss of an important relationship, or perhaps the start of a new one has wrecked havoc on your mental health and well being. Perhaps a stressful situation has caused you to question everything, including yourself. You may have found yourself stuck in anger, depression, anxiety or all three. Maybe the things you used to do to cope just aren’t working anymore. You might be part of a couple that is struggling to find trust again, newly single again and longing for a solid relationship, or in a job that is suffocating you. Whether you are a parent at the end of your rope, or dealing with your own a major health crisis, your life as you know it has been shaken up.
All the signs are there: you simply cannot go on any longer running around on autopilot… doing what is expected of you, holding your breath behind clenched teeth. You are taking it as a sign that something has got to change.
You are ready to feel alive and connected again.
A New Direction
Many men reach a point in life where they realize their life as they know it has gotten too small for them. You are forced to make a difficult choice: stay the course and continue to go it alone , or move in a new direction. Perhaps you are being called to move in this new direction now. You are being asked to leave old habits and express the fullness of who you are in your relationships and in the world.
It is absolutely possible to feel expansive and connected in your life without having to give up life as you know it, or suffer tremendously.
Powerful Medicine (the non-addictive, no side-effects kind)
You may be surprised to realize that the things, experiences, beliefs, feelings that were supposedly banal, difficult, tragic, shameful, secret, or unimportant, are actually sacred. They contain powerful medicine that can heal you and others when transformed through the alchemy of the creative-embodiment process. When you step fully into this embodied expression you become more attractive both to yourself and to those around you. It becomes possible to go after what you really want and get it.“I can’t take it any more” becomes “I don’t have to!” or “I know what to do and I can do it!” Anger becomes liberating. Boredom blossoms into excitement and chaos finds a natural order. A shamed and defeated posture is transformed into an open chest, a strong spine, and a calm and assured gaze.
It is possible to feel this alive and connected again.
The Plan
I will create a customized 4 step plan to guide you through this process. These 4 steps include:
- Create a Circle of Safety
- Start with the body.
- Hunt for Goodness in the Most Unlikely Places.
- Return to the Greater World of Relationships
People come to me saying that they long to be free and expansive in their life but often feel weighed down by pain and confusion.
But as I talk to them further, what emerges is that they have a lively side that has collapsed under pressure. Life has stripped them of their voice, their heart or their power. Often, they are stuck in a dance of powerlessness, anger and despair. So, what I do is help people change the dance so that they can throw open the rusty 300-pound door that is holding them back. When this happens, their lives can become more free and alive with possibility again. Often a completely new dance emerges. One that they might actually enjoy. A dance that supports their energy, their relationships and their lives.
Here’s to your new dance.
